A movie tailored for its audience. The co-writer and director of the film, Emma Tammi, has explained in Inverse why Five Nights at Freddy’s will be a PG-13 rated movie. She also emphasized that she co-wrote the script with the original game creator, Scott Cawthon:For the last decade, "Five Nights at Freddy's" job at building the world of "FNaF," but this latest one is proof that it truly doesn't matter that the film isn't rated R. Move over, Krueger
Just seeing something without eyes in their sockets is plain disturbing. Also there is already blood and gore in FNaF games (etc. Springtrap's model has human organs in it, blood on Molten Freddy and Withered Chica's mouth, blood in minigames) and the story is really disturbing too. r/fivenightsatfreddys.
Unfortunately for that set of fans, "Five Nights At Freddy's" hits U.S. theaters this week with a PG-13 rating. While this will no doubt open the film up to a wider audience (including the kids that love this franchise), it hasn't sat particularly well with some moviegoers, with some describing the rating as a red flag.
